The EEC Project
was devised to provide an immediate solution to
Pakistan’s power supply shortfall, currently
estimated at up to 5,000MW. This shortfall has led
to a wave of rolling blackouts and lowering the
country’s annual GDP growth to a mere 2%.
Improved energy supply in Pakistan will benefit 96
million consumers and 3.3 million enterprises
connected to the grid. The EEC Project is working to
improve the power supply situation by reducing
losses and lowering demand for power.
The project estimates that some 1,500 of shortfall
can be overcome through suitable measures. One of
the core measures is decreasing the demand of
electricity from the consumer’s side. This can be
done by adopting small measures and precautions in
your daily life which can help reduce your
electricity bill significantly. (Rizwana, like our
first beneficiary saved 40% on his electricity bill,
can we have such a collective estimate for one house
which we can use for website) |
